Problem to solve
Many users find our current search UX intimidating and hard to learn. As a result, many users never experience the value of our code search and our usage is not as high as it could be. Additionally, we've made significant strides in technical capabilities since the last redesign that are not easily expressed in the current UI/UX.
Measure of success
A high-fidelity prototype of an improved platform experience, starting with code search, encompassing the follow user jobs-to-be-done, such as:
- Find the code you're looking for
- Find relevant code related to the code you're looking for
- Understand the code you're looking at in context
Solution summary
TBD, as this is an exploratory design research effort.
What specific customers are we iterating on the problem and solution with?
TBD. We'll be utilizing lots of customer feedback as a starting point and begin iterating with customers when we have more form to our ideas.
Impact on use cases
Unclear, but improving the way users fundamentally use Sourcegraph should have a positive general impact on all use cases.
