vsce bug: auth failed when entering access token via UI

Multiple users have reported that auth failed when entering access token via UI: thread 1, thread 2

Steps to reproduce:

1. Do a search in the extension
2. Enter access token with new private instance URL

Expected behavior:

Account is authenticated if info are entered correctly

Actual behavior:

Fail to authenticate the account because it is making calls to the initial instance URL
