fix change in result count for new commit/diff search path

The new commit/diff search path was activated by default in #26755, which changed the result counts for commit searches that use the message: filter. The changed result counts are the correct result counts -- previously we were not correctly highlighting matches for the message: field.

Fixes CI failures on main.
