Problem

The Code Intelligence team is wanting to open a hire for a position that has solid C++ or Java skills/familiarity with a mandate to develop and mature our LSIF indexers. This requires a different skillset/experience from our main core stack of TS/Go.

Solution

  • Highlighting experience with multiple build systems/dependency management.
  • For now, experience or exposure to the domain space of LSP/LSIF/IDEs is only listed as a nice to have.
  • Calling out the likely team evolution over the next year to highlight how we're planning to grow.

  • Perhaps a better name for the position?
  • How do people feel we can best ascertain their skills for this position? The standard Go coding challenge doesn't feel like the best fit. Should they do a coding challenge? Should they walk us through a project of their choosing in C++/Java related to our domain space?
