This is a last mile PR for the above issue that does two things:

  1. Modify the query to pick points to resolve vectors directly instead of carrying points forward.
  2. Modify the frames that are backfilled to always fall on the first day of each previous month.

Additionally I threw in a log statement from a previous PR comment :shame:
