new search suggestions: cannot get loading indicator / suggestions to go away

1. Visit https://sourcegraph.com/search?q=repo:%5Egithub%5C.com/sourcegraph/sourcegraph%24%40db163fb+textSearch%28&patternType=literal
2. Delete ( in the query and add it back.
3. The Loading indicator appears as it should.
4. Deselecting the search input does not cause the loading indicator to go away. You cannot get it off of your screen at all.

This is particularly annoying for users whose internet goes on/off when coming back to tabs, e.g. turning on a laptop again and clicking the search bar, or switching on/off a VPN -- in such cases the only way to get this loading indicator to go away really is to reload the page.
